Fifty-one Books

About Fifty-One Books

Preparing Dominica to compete on the global stage in technology.

Every child should own books and have access to up-to-date Computer Science Education (CSEd)!

Our Mission

To provide facilities, resources, and educational programs to Generation Z and Alpha children in the Caribbean to read, read better, become more strategic readers and become discerning producers and consumers of computing technology.

To provide alternative educational opportunities in strategic literacy and computational thinking to primary and secondary school students at no cost to the student’s families, thereby eliminating any economic barriers to such opportunities.

To raise up a cadre of well compensated and supported literacy and technology educators in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities across the Caribbean to commit to the work of raising the bar in literacy and technology education as they continuously grow in their own knowledge and skills.

To raise a sustained flow of annual funding from committed partners to provide constant programming that carries students through all their primary and secondary school years.

  • To provide a useful resource to independently navigate Dominica’s extensive bus network.
  • To provide a living case study for students to witness the deployment of technology to help improve their country.
  • To provide a funding source for the continuation and expansion of 51 Books programs

Support CSEd Advocacy in Dominica

A portion of our sales goes towards improving Computer Science Education in Dominica. With your generous support, we can bring free coding and computational thinking programs to all of Dominica’s students. This is just the beginning. Once we create a duplicable template for Computer Science Education, including ongoing teacher training, we can replicate it in other Small Island Developing States regionwide.

200+ Kids

So far, we have served over 200 children ages 5-15

Moving Forward

We will serve more children and begin to offer free teacher professional development in CSEd

1st Time on Map

In 2023, we put Dominica on the Hour of Code global map! We were the only bright spot in the region that year.
